Data Analysis for Bridging Cyber-Real Spaces (DA4BS2 2019)

Scope

   The ubiquitous adoption of sensing devices such as smart phones and heterogeneous sensors with various purposes have made the bridging of cyber and real spaces become feasible. For example, the widely deployment of city sensing facilities including high-resolution cameras, Wi-Fi hotspots, satellite imaging, etc., has driven the unprecedented development of smart city research, including the City Brain project which is proposed by Alibaba in China. Meanwhile, a large number of mobile phones carried by urban populations construct another form of sensors which can influence real world life by leveraging the data analysis between online and offline applications. Moreover, effective data analysis is especially necessary in some critical domains such as industrial production, energy grid, medical treatment, etc., usually involving hardware-in-the-loop simulation and operation simultaneously. All of above scenarios require research focuses in data analysis for bridging the two spaces, i.e., the cyber space which is implemented through network, and the real space which should be well shaped and optimized by the cyber space. We argue that, cyber space should be analyzed and provide feedback to real space in order to benefit the wellbeing of human life and society. This goal can only be achieved by cross-space data analysis which is the theme of this workshop.


WORKSHOP AREAS

  This workshop will focus on the most recent progress on data analysis from various aspects of cyber and real spaces, such as data linking and consistency analysis, incomplete data processing, interaction with data, etc. Novel applications or systems utilizing data from cyber-real spaces are also welcomed. The workshop seeks for original contribution of work, which addresses the challenges from the following topics, but not limited to:

  13.  Real-world use cases of cross-domain data
  14.  Security and privacy issues in cross-space data analysis
  15.  Datasets and evaluation metrics for cross-space data analysis
  16.  Systems, applications, services and implementations of cross-domain data
